Here it is: the conclusion, the comedown, the final piece of The Filth Element. The last hour of Woof is always a special one – that point in the evening where you’re too far gone to know better but don’t care anymore. You know you’re gonna go in to work late on Thursday, but it isn’t a big deal because there’s nowhere else, at that moment, you’d rather be. I saved some of our favorites for the last hour: LCD Soundsystem, Azealia Banks, The 2 Bears, Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers. The Filth Element represents one of my favorite nights with some of the greatest people I know. I’m very happy I was able to share, at least musically, what it’s all about. Thank you for listening and supporting! <3
Day 4, Part 4 of the mix. By this time of the night at Woof, things are nuts: people everywhere doing who knows who, er, what; libations a plenty have making their rounds, adding fuel to the fire; and everyone feeling good and on their way to making whatever mistakes they’re gonna make for the night. Mine was thinking that I was still 22 and that since Jager smells like candy, it goes down like candy. Nope, wrong. So very wrong. Anyhoozle, harder beats, electro, some throwback tracks and a couple of Woof favorites. Tomorrow we conclude with Part 5: Love.
In Part 3, we start kicking things up a notch. By this time of the night at Woof, the room is packed with smiling faces, heads are bouncing and asses shaking. And oh, alcohol. We start off with some Indie Pop and head into Electro territory, playing some new tracks and some throwback favorites. Except a lot of vocals on this one.
Picking up where we left off in “Air,” the second mix in this series, “Water,” continues with the downtempo, disco vibe and starts adding some harder elements. Towards the end of the mix, we get into some LCD Soundsystem, one of our favorite artists at Woof. Towards the end of the mix, we head into some more indie and tech house territory. We’ll be back tomorrow with Part 3: Earth.
One of my current residencies is the monthly “Woof” in San Diego. What started off originally as a midweek late-night happy hour has turned into one of my favorite events to play. Great people, solid drinks, and the opportunity to use my 5 hour sets to go in some fun and unexpected directions. This past April, I was accidentally double booked and had to miss my first Woof in over a year. Rather than letting the boys in SD down, I recorded a special 5-hour mix for them last month. It’s split up into 5 parts with 1 part getting released every day! Here’s part 1:
